Dear Friends,
When we were asked to chair The Campaign for the National Humanities Center, we took it both as a great honor and a singular opportunity.
Since the moment we first encountered the Center, we have seen repeatedly how rare and valuable an institution it is—how it touches those who come through its doors and remains an important part of their lives today. That is why we are so invested in making sure this campaign succeeds.
We believe deeply in the Center's mission—to encourage excellence in scholarship, insure the continuing strength of the liberal arts, and affirm the importance of the humanities in American life. And, we believe that with your help we can achieve great things.
We ask you to help the Center achieve its full potential as the world's leading independent institute for advanced study in the humanities. Your generosity can build the Center's endowment, fund fellowships, extend seminars and resources to teachers across the country, help maintain the Center's facilities and infrastructure, and promote the development of innovative programs that will bring scholars together to share their work with each other and the greater public.
By participating in this campaign, we all express our appreciation for the ways the Center has found—and continues to find—to strengthen the humanities. Our gifts to the campaign can make a profound difference in the lives of bright, hard-working scholars and teachers, and in the future of this extraordinary institution.
For your support and your commitment to the Center, our deepest thanks.
Sincerely,
Patricia R. Morton and Carl H. Pforzheimer III
